Frequently asked questions
Is this driving distance or flight distance?
Neither exactly. It's the great-circle (“as the crow flies”) distance — the shortest path over the Earth's surface. Driving distance is longer; flight distance is close to this.
How accurate is it?
Very accurate for straight-line distance. It uses the haversine formula on each city's coordinates, treating the Earth as a sphere, which is precise to a fraction of a percent.
Can I see the direction too?
Yes — the result shows the initial compass bearing from the first city to the second.
